MOB ACTION PARODY REVOLUTIONARY PERIOD
An original parody based on a boycott mob action
("Yankee Doodle" melody)
The Boston women went to town
In stores they would be stopping
For needed sugar, tea, and cloth
      To do a little shopping.
Chorus:
Bring your pots, your pans, your cups.
Go to meet the merchants.
Mind your manners and your speech.
But stand steadfast determined.
To William Jackson's shop they went
To buy some sugar this day.
He said he had none at the time.
They said, "Come with us this way."
Chorus
They took him out across the street.
      His warehouse stood before all.
He said the key he would not give
He thought for time he would stall.
Chorus
One woman would have none of this
      Her patience running so thin.
Before she knew what she had done
She seized him underneath his chin.
Chorus
She hoisted him onto a cart.
      He was surprised and shaking.
With nobody to give him help.
He gave the keys though quaking.
Chorus
Still Jackson was upon the cart
      Confused, unsure, and fearful
What next for him he did not know
But he would not be tearful.
Chorus
The women pushed the cart through town
      In public exhibition.
When they had had their fill of it
They tipped the cart to free him.
Chorus
      Some women entered his warehouse
      Inside the sugar WAS there.
They rolled the barrels out the door
So others could take their share.
Chorus
When all had taken what they would
      They rolled the barrels inside.
They swept and tidied up the street.
Returned the keys, walked home with pride.
Chorus:
Bring your pots, your pans, your cups.
Go to meet the merchants.
Mind your manners and your speech.
But stand steadfast determined.
