Living in Mexico City, I knew that Antonio Santa Anna was the Mexican president. During 1835, he had been involved with the growing tension in Texas as Anglo-American settlers wanted to declare their independence from Mexico and become a state.

Now was the time to retaliate for a Texas uprising in San Antonio on December 10, 1835. He gathered his troops to march northward from Mexico City to put down the unrest. He would attack San Antonio and take the Alamo!
