March 6, 1836 - Inside the Fort A Slaughter Emerged

The attacking soldiers bayoneted the people at the cannon. Below on the plaza, they attacked and bayoneted the defenders! Mexican soldiers slashed the Texans with sabers! They ran down the Alamo group with lances. Soldiers executed, shot, and slaughtered!

Outside the fort, the cannon blasted to smash the doors and barricades. Musket fire sounded. Nails and scrap iron flew from a gun on the roof.

An 18-pounder raked the timbered platform, the thick stone walls, and the oak doors of the church.

Soldiers entered the church where the women and children hid.
