After two months of adventurous travel, we had reached San Antonio! The Texas American people from the town knew we were coming. They had abandoned the town and taken refuge in Fort Alamo. They were now cornered for their lives and their freedom!

In the town, there was much Mexican activity. Soldiers took down the Texan flag and hoisted a red banner on the building. It snapped and flapped in the afternoon breeze.

I found out that the blood-red flag was the traditional Mexican symbol of no surrender and no mercy!
