Wedding Delayed (Yaffe-Glaser)

June 20, 1906, Boston Globe

Groom Mislaid License,

He Forgot Where.

Ceremony Set for 5 is Performed at 9 for West End Couple

Miss Lena Yaffe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Yaffe of the West End, was married last evening to Israel Glaser of the same district, by Rev. M. Kopelowitz of the Joy Street synagogue, after a delay of several hours, because of the groom mislaying the marriage license.

The ceremony was to have taken place at 5 o'clock, but owing to the tardiness of the guests it was about 7 when the officiating clergyman asked to be shown the marriage license. It then transpired that the groom had left the document behind and he could not remember just where he had put the precious paper.

Several messengers were sent to hunt for the paper and when at last one appeared with it the clock had registered the hour of 9.

The groom was attended beneath the canopy by Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Glaser, Mr. Glaser being a brother of the groom, while the bride was escorted by Mr. and Mrs. Max Rubin, uncle and aunt of the bride. Miss Mary Rubin was maid of honor and Israel Yaffe, brother of the bride, was best man. The bridesmaids were Misses Eva Rubin, Etta Rubin, Lena Cohen, Rose Rubin, Bessie Mosner, Ida Levitsky, Sarah Kaplan and Tillie Sacks. The ushers were Israel G. Rubin, P. Bolansky, H. Paul, Samuel Moletzky and Israel Gellerman.

The wedding feast was served in one of the lower halls, after which there was dancing until an early hour this morning.
